It is with regret that the Partners at The Health Centre Practice announce that Dr John Wright is semi-retiring at the end of March 2021. He will continue to be in the Practice for 2 days a week (Monday and Wednesday) until he fully retires at the end of September. Current patients of Dr Wright will be allocated a new GP in due course.

Specialist Physiotherapy Service
We are pleased to offer a specialist physiotherapy service. This service is for adult patients (aged 16 and over) who are not able to manage their musculoskeletal symptoms. The physiotherapist is able to request blood tests, X-rays, CT or MRI scans if necessary to help with diagnosis.
Once the diagnosis has been established the physiotherapist can refer you to the appropriate health professional or service to best manage your condition.

Some tests can take five to seven days to come back from the hospital. You will need to contact the Health Centre on 01763 242981, option 3 between 15:00 – 17:00 if you want to find out your results or alternatively please sign up for online services where you will be able to view your results.
If you need to be seen by a GP following your test results, you will be contacted by phone or letter advising you of this.
If you have a mobile telephone number, please let us know, so that we have an alternative number to contact you on in case of an emergency.
Due to confidentiality results will only be given to the patient unless prior arrangements have been made.
PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING THE CURRENT COVID-19 PANDEMIC WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER APPOINTMENTS FOR TRAVEL VACCINES. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON TRAVELLING ABROAD PLEASE CONSULT A PRIVATE TRAVEL CLINIC. WE WILL STILL GIVE THE NHS VACCINES IF THEY ARE NEEDED. YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE A REPORT FROM THE TRAVEL CLINIC CONFIRMING THAT YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN ADVICE AND WHICH VACCINES YOU NEED.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 8 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
If you are travelling in less than 8 weeks time you will need to attend a Travel Clinic who will advise and administer any chargeable vaccinations you require e.g. yellow fever. The Travel Clinic may request that you return to the surgery for NHS vaccinations e.g. tetanus.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Please note if you are travelling to multiple destinations you will be asked to attend a travel clinic as the advice needed may be out of our area of expertise. You will still be able to have any of the core NHS vaccines free of charge in the practice.

The fees charged (payable in advance) are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
Please note: The GPs are unable to complete medicals required for leisure/sporting activities i.e. activity holidays, skydiving, scuba diving as they are not specialists in these fields.
