All our doctors prefer to see their own patients to provide you with continuity of care
which is better for both you and your doctor. However, if you need to be seen urgently and your
doctor is not in surgery that day, you will be offered an appointment with another doctor.
If there are times when you need to be seen urgently or on a particular day and your doctor's
surgery is fully booked, the receptionist will take a message, including your name and contact
number. She will ask you for details about why you need to be seen, so that your doctor can assess
how best to deal with your problem. The message will be sent down to the doctor who can then allocate
a special appointment. Sometimes the doctor may be able to deal with your problem on the telephone.
If you do not need to be seen urgently, please be prepared to book an appointment a week or two ahead.
This helps us keep spaces free for medically urgent problems each day.
Some consultations will take longer than others and sometimes the doctor may be called out on
an emergency. These can obviously lead to delays and will make appointment times run late. In these
circumstances we would really appreciate your patience.
Teaching and Training
Throughout the year we teach students from Addenbrooke's Medical School.
The Students come at various stages of their clinical training years. We appreciate the help
our patients give us by allowing these students to learn in real life settings. We are also a training
practice for fully qualified doctors who are undergoing a final year of training to become GPs. An important
part of their learning involves video recordings of consultations (this is done only when
patients give their full consent).
Practice Philosophy
We are an equal partnership committed to high standards and to providing
a sympathetic personalised health service. The doctor you choose to be registered with will
be responsible for your health care. We aim to provide you with as good a service as
possible, and to assist us we have a full complement of clerical, nursing, reception and
administrative staff. We are fully computerised and will take every opportunity to keep
to the forefront of medical technology, with the aim of providing you with the most up to
date medical care. If you have any comments you would like to make, please contact
Mrs Yvonne West, Practice Manager in the first instance.
